Old Man Emu BP51 Complete Toyota Tacoma Suspension Lift Kit (2016+)

Delivering a 2–3” lift with fully adjustable bypass shock technology, BP-51 suspension offers an unmatched blend of comfort, control, and capability—on the highway, loaded down for overland travel, or pushing deep into backcountry trails.
Unlike standard lift kits, BP-51 shocks feature independently adjustable compression and rebound damping, allowing you to fine-tune your ride for daily driving, heavy hauling, or aggressive off-road use. Precision-machined aluminum bodies, internal bypass engineering, and OME’s vehicle-specific design ensure your Tacoma performs at its best in any environment.
The front coilovers have been tuned in both length and feel specifically to the Tacoma and are capable of accommodating setups with and without accessories (bumpers, winch, etc). Specific reservoir brackets have been designed for application-specific reservoir placement and also relocation of the sway bar to allow clearance at the spring seat. While the front coilovers are adjustable in height, the system has been designed for a 2-inch (50mm) ride height increase and a minimum of 2-inch (50 mm) down travel.
Currently available for purchase, rear shock absorbers have been tuned in length and valving specific to the Tacoma. To accommodate the large body size of BP-51, a specific lower mount bracket has been developed to provide clearance to the axle. Specific reservoir brackets have also been developed and are included in the rear fit kit.
The rear dampers are tuned to match the existing range of rear Old Man Emu springs. Recommended compression and rebound settings can be found in the supplied fitting instructions for the various spring options available.
The fitting instructions include detailed information for the correct installation of the shock absorber and reservoir placement. Please note there is a left-hand and right-hand applications due to the different reservoir mounting methods and locations.

Initial evaluation of the new 2016 Tacoma was that the vehicle provided a balanced, compliant ride that gave the OME engineers a good platform for developing a range of suspension solutions. Consideration was given to the front geometry to maximize the lift while maintaining optimal levels of droop, down travel, and proper alignment.
This new generation of Tacoma has a different weight bias and total weight than the previous generation, so a full run of ride testing was undertaken to ensure the proper combination of solutions was found.
Front Suspension:
- Springs: Three spring options were chosen to cater for: No Bar, Bar or Winch only, and Bar + Winch vehicle setups. As the suspension design is the same as the previous model Tacoma, existing coil part numbers could be used, noting some slight change in application. Factory geometry allowed for a 2-inch lift while still maintaining an adequate level of droop.
- Struts: An extensive development and tuning project was undertaken to correctly match the ride quality to the spring rate and resulting in 2 front strut options depending on spring selection. A front trim packer is also available for fine-tuning front ride heights and correcting any left/ right lean.
Rear Suspension:
- Springs:
- Great emphasis was placed on ride comfort. OME Spring EL095R provides approximately 2-2.5″ of lift.
- Shock Absorbers: The rear shock absorber has been developed and tuned with particular attention to controlling the vehicle both with and without payloads. Numerous iterations of valving were tested in order to determine the best possible spring and shock absorber combination based on potential payload scenarios. As a result, the best possible configuration of ride comfort and vehicle control was achieved.
